Learn how you can take better care of your trees.

Having trees in your yard is a great way to up your home’s curb appeal and add a nice natural touch to your outdoor property. However, keeping your trees looking healthy and nice requires regular upkeep on your part. Here are some of the tree maintenance tasks that you need to stay on top of.

Trimming

Regularly trimming your trees will keep them looking healthy and vibrant. When you undertake this task, it’s important to focus on clearing away dead or dry branches. This will encourage new growth. Additionally, be sure to cut back branches that have grown too close to your home. This will prevent these overhanging branches from causing damage to your home during a storm or other major weather event.

Watering

While older, larger trees do not really need to be watered, young, freshly-planted tress with require some attention in this area. This is because the root systems on new trees aren’t yet developed enough to pull water from deep within the ground. Until your new tree matures and anchors itself more fully into the ground, keep a regular watering schedule. As every tree has unique needs, make sure you do a little research to plan out your watering schedule.

Inspection

Finally, it’s important to check your trees for any signs of pest infestation or diseases. Common signs of these issues include spotted or discolored leaves, holes in the trunk, dying branches, and so on. Keep in mind that, if your tree is infested or diseased, then it can actually spread to the other plants on your property. So, if you suspect this is an issue, call in a professional to address it immediately.

These are some of the steps that you should take to keep the trees on your property healthy and happy.  Want another way to care for your property?  Make sure you have the proper homeowners insurance protections in place.  For assistance with your coverage needs, contact the experts at Gant Insurance Agency in McKinney, Texas today.
